It’s an exciting day when we can announce our newfound venue!

The amazing facilities and central location of Rocklea Showgrounds was the clincher for organiser, Scarlett Habanero, of My Chilli Festival.

“The Committee is great to work with so far, super-enthusiastic and keen to get more great events at this historic venue,” said Ms Habanero.

With ample room for parking, built-in toilet facilities, a huge covered bar area, a second huge covered all-purpose area, lots of grass, and plenty of nooks and crannies to fill with festival fun, Scarlett was sold the first time she met Gary, the chairman of the Rocklea Showgrounds.

Their “can-do” attitude is so important in the event space which has suffered such heavy blows since March 2020 and needs to save every penny it can on infrastructure costs.

And even more exciting, rather than have to have the event spill over past sunset, the venue has a huge air-conditioned space which can be a blank canvas for a “Spooky Sensation” area for kids.  It will be lit by black light, and feature some fun spooky characters to entertain the kids.  Story-telling, and  G rated spooky movies will also be playing throughout the festival.  Parents will be able to check the kids in to the secure area for 30 minute blocks, ensuring numbers are controlled and everyone gets to enjoy some time in the space.

The vendors will no doubt get in the spirit of Spooky Spicy fun, and we cannot wait to see what their stalls will look like.

The AfterBurn Bar will be firing up again, and no doubt there will be some dry ice creating some extra atmosphere.
